Empty Promises

The only thing you can guarantee
are your promises are empty.
Those words that sounded so sweet
and that time never came for free.

All those times I believed
in all the dreams you conceived
were moments ending in grief
because of how you failed me.

You asked me to have faith
but accused me of being fake.
When I’d had all I could take,
I stopped believing the promises you make.
